BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) The North Dakota University System has officially launched the search for the next chancellor.
The application deadline is March 17. Whoever is chosen will start somewhere around the beginning of July.
Interim Chancellor Larry Skogen took over when the board replaced Hamid Shirvani in 2013 after complaints about his leadership style. Skogen will return to his duties as president of Bismarck State college on July 1.
Officials held off on searching for a new, permanent chancellor until after last November's vote on dumping the state Board of Higher Education in favor of a full-time commission. North Dakota voters rejected the plan.
The University System has contracted with AGB Search to help with the search process. Applications will be reviewed by an advisory committee and the Board of Higher Education.
