BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota's top oil regulator says new regulations aimed at halting the wasteful burning of natural gas and making crude safer for rail transport may cut oil production by more than 20,000 barrels daily.
The state's Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms told the House Appropriations Committee that he doesn't anticipate more regulations aimed at the oil industry anytime soon.
North Dakota Petroleum Council President Ron Ness says that's a good thing.
Ness says "let's stop kicking the goose here for a while because the goose is about to go lay down somewhere."
