BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota transportation officials say crews have seen an increase in garbage dropped by individuals along the state's highways.
Ron Henke is the deputy director for engineering at the North Dakota Department of Transportation. Henke says that the situation is particularly problematic in the western part of the state.
Henke says workers are finding many large items including tires, beds, washers and dryers.
The Transportation Committee of the state's Senate is reviewing a bill that would allow companies to work through a vendor to sponsor the cleanup of highway sections.
