GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, cancelling the winter storm warning that was posted for those area's.
The blizzard warning covers Polk, Kittson, Marshall, Pembina, Walsh, Grand Forks, Traill and Norman counties and is in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Jeff Makowski says the conditions are dangerous, with poor visibilities and very low windchills.
The winter weather advisory remains in effect through late Saturday afternooon into early evening for Fargo & Moorhead. Other cities in the advisory include Valley City, Finley, Cooperstown, Lisbon, Gwinner, Wahpeton, Breckenridge, Fergus Falls, and Elbow Lake. The counties included are: Cass, Clay, Richland, Wilkin, Otter Tail, Grant, & Sargent. Snowfall totals in the south are much less but winds will remain strong and combined with bitter cold windchills, travelers in the advisory area must be cautious.
