ROLLA, N.D. (AP) - A veteran North Dakota law enforcement officer is enjoying his first day of retirement.
Rod Trottier's last day as Rolette County sheriff was Wednesday.
He joined the agency in 1975 while he was still in college and then went to the Rolla Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where he spent most of his career. He's been sheriff for the past four years.
Newly elected Sheriff Gerald Medrud took over the job on Thursday.
