FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A Fargo man is in jail for Monday's armed robbery and kidnapping in Moorhead.
Malcolm Evans, 52, was arrested as he stepped out of a motel room that police and the FBI had under surveillance in So. Fargo. Moorhead Police Lt. Brad Penas says there were other people in the room, but no one offered any resistance.
The weapon used in the robbery was a sawed-off shotgun. Evans is accused of forcing the owner of a pickup to drive him to West Acres in Fargo where the man was released. Police say he first tried to steal a car with a woman and her daughter inside, but they jumped out and the driver grabbed the keys.
Federal prosecutors in Minneapolis may bring bank robbery and interstate kidnapping charges against Evans.
