Senator Hoeven says he is confident that his bill to approve the Keystone XL pipeline will pass. Hoeven says Incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell indicated that he plans to make the pipeline his first order of business in the new congress. But during President Obama's year-end news conference, he downplayed the benefits of building the pipeline. He said it would not lower gasoline prices and argued more jobs would be created by repairing America's infrastructure. But Hoeven says all of the president's concerns have been addressed.Hoeven says, "This is vital infrastructure that we need to build the right kind energy plan for this country and of course, the consumer benefits at the pump and our country benefits from jobs." The GOP takes over the Senate when the new session begins in January. The bill takes 60 votes to pass.
