SHOREVIEW, Minn. (AP) - Interstate 694 has been reopened in the suburbs north of St. Paul after a closure of several hours that followed a pair of fatal shootings.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says both eastbound and westbound I-694 between Interstates 35W and 35E in the Shoreview area were reopened by around 9:30 a.m.
Authorities say the incident began with a fatal shooting at a rest stop on Interstate 94 in Maple Grove about 1 a.m. Wednesday. The police chase ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed on I-694. Authorities say the suspect got out and brandished a weapon. Officers opened fire, and the man was killed.
