ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesotans seeking medical marijuana next year can expect monthly bills of $100 to $500 for their treatment.
Officials from the state's two manufacturers stress costs for the medicine will vary greatly based on the patient, his or her condition and the dose required to treat it. Minnesota Medical Solutions told The Associated Press Tuesday their monthly costs would average between $100 and $500. LeafLine Labs expects to charge $250 to $500 a month.
Both companies will offer lower pricing for lower-income residents. But with no hope of insurance covering the cost, the potentially high costs may pit some patients with outsized bills.
Sarah Wellington, a St. Paul middle school teacher with multiple sclerosis, says a $500 monthly bill would be impossible for her to cover.
