BISMARCK (KFGO-AM) The North Dakota Census Office says the state's retirement age doesn't necessarily mean 65.
Researcher Kevin Iverson found more than a third of North Dakotan's 65 and older are still working.
He says there are a lot of factors for that: Some people can't afford to retire, others like what they're doing and don't want to quit. Some may not want to sit home and do nothing and still others like a little extra spending money for vacations and other activities
Iverson says one of the surprises was that many of those over 65 still working are self-employed and the percentage increases with time. He says in terms of salary they reported, they were doing "quite well."
