WASHINGTON, D.C. (KFGO AM) -- Members of North Dakota's congressional delegation say they believe federal officials will move quickly to deal with issues surrounding a tanker derailment and fiery explosion outside of Casselton.
Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp met with Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and Cynthia Quarterman, head of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
Heitkamp says rules covering construction of new, safer tanker cars have been held up for some time. Senator Hoeven invited Secretary Foxx to Casselton to discuss the issue.
And Foxx says he will, indeed come.
