Bismarck, N.D. (AP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Bismarck Police Department are teaming up for a "Trooper On A Bus'' event.
The patrol has used the program throughout the state in recent years to boost safety around school buses. Troopers riding on buses observe traffic violations that occur around the buses and radio the information to officers in squad cars who make traffic stops.
The special enforcement effort will be conducted in Bismarck this week.
Failing to stop for a school bus can result in a $100 fine for both the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle.
