FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Senator John Hoeven says when the senate votes Tuesday on a bill to approve construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, he expects it to pass.
But Hoeven tells KFGO News that getting the bill approved by President Obama is going to be a lot more difficult. “I do think we’ll pass it,” Hoeven said. “But I do think the president is likely to veto it.”
Hoeven says the president is siding with what he calls "extreme environmental groups" in opposing the pipeline. “You can’t delay a project for six years, and not be obviously against it. Clearly, actions speak louder than words.”
Hoeven says if congress can't override a veto, he expects the bill to be attached to something else that the president wants to approve.
