FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Midcontinent Communications will break ground next spring on a $75 million project to provide gigabit speeds to internet customers.
The company plans to build a high-capacity fiber optic network that covers more than 7,600 miles in the Dakotas and Minnesota. Vice-president Tom Simmons says the service will be 35 times faster than the average high-speed access in America.
Simmons says the company hopes to make the service available to more than 650,000 homes and businesses.
Construction is set to be completed in 2017.
