FARGO (KFGO-AM) Mayor Dennis Walaker says he favors downtown Fargo for a proposed new convention center.
Walaker made the comment in front of a packed house at the annual State of the Cities event hosted by the Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. Up until now, Walaker had not publicly committed to a favored site.
The Fargodome Authority is waiting for the results of a feasibility study to show whether additional convention space is needed in Fargo and whether the best location is next to the Fargodome in north Fargo or downtown. Those results should be available later this month.
A live text poll of the 500 people attending the Chamber gathering found a significant majority also favored a downtown location for a convention center.
