FARGO (KFGO-AM) The new Fargo City Hall will be built on what is now the north end of the parking lot directly across from Centennial Hall. That decision from the committee that's been looking at different locations within a four block area surrounding the current city hall.
City Administrator Pat Zavoral says the "green space" between the library and the civic center, favored by many on the committee didn't work. He says that space was limited and would have required a building six or seven stories, much too expensive because of added structural requirements.
The project architect has now been directed to come up with a design for the government center. It will be 3 stories high and about 80,000 square feet. The estimated cost is 10 to 14 million dollars. Completion is expected by late 2015.
