Casselton, N.D. (KFGO-AM) -- No injuries have been reported in a train derailment west of Casselton. It happened at around 5:30pm Thursday near the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant. The Cass County Sheriff's Office says there was no fire or explosion.
One train, headed west, was pulling empty oil rail tanker cars. The other train, which was eastbound, was hauling lumber. Both trains are owned by BNSF Railway.
Casselton Fire and Ambulance, FM Ambulance and Cass County deputies responded.
Casselton was the scene of another derailment in Dec. 2013 when a train carrying soybeans derailed and caused a train carrying crude oil to jump the tracks. There were no injuries, but residents were asked to evacuate because of smoke that drifted over Casselton when several rail cars burned.
