Grand Forks police are warning about a scam involving sales of used vehicles.
Police say a classified advertisement in several area publications listed vehicles for sale through the Army Air Force Exchange service. Several residents responded to the ad and at least one victim lost a significant amount of money.
Victims of the scam are assured the vehicles exist and are shown photos matching the descriptions in the ad.
Authorities says consumers should never wire money or use a bank-to-bank transfer and should always see a vehicle personally or have it inspected by a professional before buying it.
