MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A gag order has been issued in the case of two hockey players accused of making a sex video with a teenage girl in Moorhead. Judge Michael Fritz says attorneys made comments of such a nature that any continued rhetoric would pose a "substantial likelihood of prejudicing the jury."
The name-calling began after defense attorneys referred to the 15-year-old alleged victim as a "sexual predator." That didn't sit well with Clay County Attorney Brian Melton, who called defense attorney Jade Rosenfeldt a “hatchet woman” in an interview with KFGO News.
The gag order is in effect until the case is closed. It bans attorneys involved from making any public statements about the case.
Thomas Carey and Brandon Smith are charged with using a minor in a sexual performance, possession of child pornography and distributing child pornography.
