OAKES, N.D. (KFGO-AM) -- A judge in Dickey County has ordered that the state and a Bureau of Criminal Investigation agent pay a Forbes man nearly $54,000.
The case centers around a payloader that was seized by agent Arnie Rummel after it turned out to be stolen. Darrell Schrum argued that he purchased the machine in good faith and had no idea that it was stolen.
District Judge Daniel Narum is giving the state and Rummel two weeks to reimburse Schrum. He also ordered that they pay Schrum's legal expenses.
The Attorney General's Office has indicated that it plans to appeal Narum's rulings. The payloader was turned over to a trucking company. Its believed to be in Texas or Mexico.
