MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - U.S. Senate hopeful Mike McFadden and GOP House candidate Torrey Westrom were on the campaign trail in Moorhead today. The candidates held a "meet and greet" with supporters at a Moorhead restaurant.
McFadden, who's trying to defeat Sen. Al Franken, says voters consistently raise two issues wherever he goes. “They don’t believe that we’re on the right track,” McFadden said. “The president is not leading us in the right direction. They’re very, very disappointed. The other thing that I hear consistently is that (voters) are so frustrated with what’s going on in Washington. It is so hyper-partisan.”
Westrom says health care is a top concern among those he's been speaking with. “Obamacare and how bad it’s working for so many people right now”, Westrom said. “Farmers, families, small business owners and their employees. That is such a marquee issue that needs to be fixed in Washington, and nothing has happened under the current leadership.”
According to some of the latest media polls, Fanken is leading McFadden by about 10 points. Westrom is trailing Peterson by 9 points.
