DETROIT LAKES, MINN. (KFGO-AM) -- A Detroit Lakes man has pleaded guilty to the crossbow killing of a woman in a downtown Detroit Lakes apartment in April of last year.
58 year-old David Stensrud admitted to shooting 69 year-old Geraldine Kading with the crossbow and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Stensrud also shot himself with an arrow. A plea agreement calls for a prison sentence of just over 38 years.
Stensrud testified that he loved Kading and killed her because he wanted to be with her in heaven.
Sentencing is scheduled for late November.
