MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A defense attorney in the case of two hockey players accused of making a sex video with a teenage girl in Moorhead wants a judge to issue a gag order.
Joseph Friedberg says the verbal jabs started when Clay County Attorney Brian Melton publicly criticized the defense’s tactics – calling them “abhorrent and disgusting.”
“That’s an unethical thing to do.” Friedberg said. “I’d have never responded if he (Melton) hadn’t taken this to the media, and frankly, I kinda wish a judge would issue a gag order at this point.”
In court documents, defense attorneys refer to the 15-year-old alleged victim as a "sexual predator." Thomas Carey of Moorhead and Brandon Smith of Castaic, Calif. are charged with using a minor in a sexual performance, possession of child pornography and distributing child pornography.
