GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) -- Two NDSU students have been sentenced to fines and a little extra homework by a Grand Forks judge for trying to take the "S" off of a sign on the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center on the UND campus.

Kyle Mason, Alan Patterson and William Ogdahl were all arrested and charged with refusing to halt when they ran from police last week. Patterson's attorney was in court for him Monday and entered a not guilty plea. Mason and Ogdahl both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to $225 in fines and ordered to write a two-page paper about why UND is a good school.

The judge said the three were part of a group of about 15 NDSU students involved in the incident.

The three were part of NDSU's homecoming court, but were removed after the school found out about the incident.
