Wahpeton, N.D. (AP) An annual football game that has pitted the high school team in Wahpeton, North Dakota against the one in neighboring Breckenridge, Minnesota, is on hold for at least two years.
The rivalry dates to 1920. Its future became uncertain earlier this year because of football district realignment in minnesota. That problem was alleviated when the Minnesota State High School League allowed schools to request that certain matchups continue.
However, Breckenridge Athletic Director Chad Fredericksen says that scheduling remains a problem. He says the earliest that the game dubbed the Harvest Bowl can be played again is in 2017. Wahpeton won the last matchup 28-6, in late August.
