WEST FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- The West Fargo City Commission has passed a one-year moratorium on construction of an opioid addiction program that would treat people hooked on heroin, Oxycontin and other drugs.

Police Chief Mike Reitan says the out-of-state company contacted the North Dakota Department of Human Services this spring and applied for a license in July, but the city only recently learned of their plans. He's glad the city put the brakes on the project.

The company wants to set up in a small strip mall in the 1600 block of Main Ave. which is not far from Brookwood Mobile Home Park.

Earlier this year, the company, Premier Care, failed in its attempt to set up shop in Moorhead.

The company has six clinics in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
