FARGO (KFGO-AM) Good progress on one of the largest phases of reconstruction on 19th Avenue North in Fargo.
If the weather holds, the project engineer says 19th Avenue between University Drive and 10th Sreet should open to traffic in all lanes by the end of this week.
Brian Pattengale of Houston Engineering says most of the landscaping is done and permanent striping is underway.
Drivers will also notice one less left turn lane from 10th Street onto westbound 19th Avenue.
The section of 19th Avenue between University Drive and 16th Avenue won't reopen until the end of October. That construction includes installation a designated crosswalk with a signal system and fencing that will allow pedestrians to safely cross 19th Avenue without having to dodge traffic during events at the Fargodome.
The entire project was supposed to have been completed September 12th. The delay has drawn fire from City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn. He says its not only an inconvenience for drivers but has cost stores along the cooridor lost business.
