FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- The Fargo City Commission has voted to form an independent panel to review Fargo Police Department disciplinary policies.
After the suicide of Police Lt. Jeff Skuza, the department has been questioned on morale and how they handle these types of incidents. Police Chief Keith Ternes suggested having an independent board to look at the department and its practices.
The five member panel includes retired Highway Patrol Superintendent Jim Prochniak, retired Cass County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson, and Clay County Administrator Brian Berg.
The panel will have up to $100,000 to hire consultants to conduct confidential interviews with police officers.
