Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Two American Indian tribes in North Dakota are getting a total of more than $1.3 million in federal money to address crimes related to alcohol and drug abuse.
U.S. Senator John Hoeven says the Spirit Lake Sioux tribe is getting about $589,000 and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is getting about $750,000.
The money is through a Federal Justice Department Program aimed at using enforcement, intervention and treatment to reduce crimes in tribal communities related to substance abuse.
