FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- The American Red Cross is teaming up with Fargo firefighters, Fargo-Cass Public Health and Emergency Management on a fire and emergency preparedness campaign.
On Oct. 4, teams of firefighters, public health professionals and two Red Cross volunteers will begin going door-to-door in the Madison Elementary School neighborhood to talk about fire safety, escape plans and emergency preparedness. Judy Green, CEO of the American Red Cross says "the teams will go down each street and knock on the door to see if they'll let us in so we can have conversations about being safe, preparedness and checking their smoke alarms".
The teams will be handing out "Are you Prepared" guides, which are available in multiple languages. They'll also be doing free blood pressure checks and signing people up for the vulnernable population registry, which helps the city identify people who may need assistance if a community evacuation is needed.
