Northfield, Minn. (MNN) Carleton College political analyst Steven Schier says Governor Dayton's criticism of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is shrewd politics, because everyone is against child abuse and the governor has become a spokesman for that position. He adds the issue is particularly sensitive for female voters.
But Schier adds there could be a political backlash for Dayton because he pushed hard for a Vikings stadium. He says one thing Dayton is doing by criticizing Adrian Peterson publicly is trying to put some distance between himself, the Vikings and the Vikings stadium. Schier says that connection could be an opportunity for Republicans in the remaining campaign.
