Toddler killed in hit-and-run in Minot

MINOT, ND (KFGO-AM) - Police in Minot say a 23-month-old child was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Sunday night.  The child has been identified by Minot police captain John Klug as Sophia Pepple of New Town.

Police are searching for a dark, or black colored pickup with north dakota license plates and tinted windows. The truck may also have a tool box, or other large item in the cargo area.  A surveillance camera near the scene recorded an image of a truck matching that description.

Police say after striking and killing the child, the vehicle fled toward a local cemetary. The toddler's identity has not been released.
