Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has approved more than $54,000 in grants for agriculture in the classroom programs this school year. Goehring says the programs give teachers lesson materials and other tools to help them make agriculture part of students' everyday learning. He says that helps students learn where their food comes from and how to make healthy food choices. The grants include $32,000 to farm bureau for teacher training seminars, $14,000 to the state FFA foundation for a mini-grant program, $4,800 to North Dakota State University to publish the North Dakota AG Mag, and $3,500 to the North Dakota Geographic Alliance to conduct a teacher tour. The funding was approved by the 2013 Legislature.
