MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - Two members of the USHL's Lincoln Stars are accused of using a minor to make a sex video in a Moorhead, Minn. motel room. Prosecutors say the video was made in February, when the team was in town to play the Fargo Force.
Thomas Carey of Moorhead and Brandon Smith of Castaic, Calif. are each charged with using a minor in a sexual performance, possession of child pornography and distributing child pornography.
Clay County Attorney Brian Melton says the victim is a 15-year-old girl. “She was used in a sexual performance” Melton said. Melton referred to the video as “a main piece of evidence” in the case.
The Lincoln Stars say the players have been suspended indefinitely for violating the USHL's code of conduct.
The cell phone video was distributed to an unknown number of people, including hockey players and Moorhead High School students.Carey and Smith are expected to turn themselves in prior to their first court appearance.
