RED LAKE, MN. (KFGO-AM) A tribal official says it was a wild party that drew dozens of law enforcement authorities to a home at Redby on the Red Lake Indian Reserviation in northwestern Minnesota Friday.
Eyewitnesses say party-goer's fired semi-automatic weapons in the air, attracting tribal officers around 5 AM. What followed was a nearly 12 hour stand-off, involving authorities from a number of area law enforcement agencies. 7 people are in custody.
Public Safety Officer Kelly Brunelle says officers responded after reports of shots fired. They were alarmed by finding spent shell casings in the driveway and bullet holes in the house. Brunelle says the officers were threatened by those at the scene. When the officers returned to their cars, they were fired on.
