CASSELTON, ND (KFGO-AM) - It took a couple of hours to wrangle a steer on the loose in Casselton. The big critter got loose on its way to Casselton Cold Storage Wednesday morning.
The steer ran through yards, down streets and even through a construction zone. Cass County Deputy Sheriff Keenan Zundel says it took several attempts to corral the animal, using men on horseback. A veternarian hit it twice with tranquilizer darts that seemed to have no effect.
Eventually cornered against a fence, the steer was pushed into a trailer without any injuries. The deputy says the effects of the tranquilizer darts then kicked in and the steer went to sleep. It's fate is uncertain.
