MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A member of the Clay County Sheriff's Department is running against his boss. Sergeant Ryan Alderman is challenging two-term Sheriff Bill Bergquist.
Alderman has been with the department for about 20 years. He says he realizes that running against Bergquist is an uphill battle. “Bill is a good man.” Alderman told KFGO News. “He’s been a good sheriff. I just want to offer the people of Clay County an option”.
Alderman isn't new to politics. He is also a former mayor of Glyndon.
Alderman says he has a lot of support from friends and colleagues and says he hopes he can make it a challenging race.
Bergquist says Alderman called to inform him of his candidacy just minutes before he filed the paperwork.
