FARGO (KFGO-AM) - A complaint has been filed against Fargo City Commission candidate John Strand over a potential illegal campaign ad that falls under a state law involving corrupt electioneering. Last month, Strand projected a campaign slogan onto the side of a city water tower. He is confident he did not break the law.

Strand's attorney, John Goff says if there's a complaint brought to the attention of a campaign, they usually fix it, move it or take it down to eliminate the problem. Goff says right now there are numerous yard signs that are on public property that could be considered illegal.

Strand supplied KFGO News with photo's of more than 30 possible illegally posted campaign signs in Fargo. He took down the water tower projection the same day concerns were raised about it. The name of the complainant has not been disclosed but Strand was told it was not filed by another city commission candidate. Cass County States Attorney Birch Burdick says he'll have to review the complaint before deciding if Strand will be charged.
