FARGO, ND. (KFGO AM) -- Crews started work Tuesday on 25th St. south in Fargo.
It's the first step in what will be one of the largest road construction projects this summer.
One lane will be closed in each direction between 17th and 23rd avenues.
During this phase, traffic will be traveling in the outside lanes.
Turn lanes will also be shortened or not accessible in this stretch.
State DOT Metro Engineer Kevin Gorder says in two weeks, as roadwork gets into high gear, traffic will be down to single lanes, with head to head traffic and reduced speeds.
That will cause even more significant delays on 25th street.
There will also be occasional reduced lanes of traffic on I-94 because of work to widen the bridge over the interstate.
The project is expected to be completed this November.
