FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Monday, the Fargo City Ccommission will review an application for a proposed payment-in-lieu-of-taxes plan. The so-called "PILOTt" incentive would offer a 10-year property tax break for a multi-million dollar expansion by Border States Electric.
The proposed project is a new $18 million facility on a 16 acre vacant lot at 605 25th Street South. It will house the company's local branch and retail store. If the tax incentive application is approved, Border States expects to break ground next month with completion in May of next year.
Border States Electric also plans a $5 to $6 million renovation of its current facility at 105 25th Street North as the company's new corporate headquarters. The company has 330 employees in Fargo and 62 locations in 14 states.
