MANKATO, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- In a turnaround from Wednesday’s practice field dramatics, Minnesota State University-Mankato Mavericks football players say they will welcome head football coach Todd Hoffner back to the team.
Junior Defensive Back Sam Thompson said players stood behind their actions and statements made earlier, but they did not intend to undermine Hoffner’s return to the field.
Hoffner made his first appearance on the MSU practice field since 2012 on Wednesday afternoon, but the session was short-lived.
All but three players appeared out of uniform and declared their loyalties to coach Keen, who has served as interim head football coach, before walking off the field.
Hoffner decided to take back the coaching job Tuesday, following an arbitration decision that he had been wrongfully fired last May.
Foffner had been football coach at Minot State University.
