BISMARCK (KFGO-AM) -- A prosecutor says he plans to charge a woman with simple assault and menacing for a scuffle with a member of Sen. Heidi Heitkamp's staff last week in Bismarck.
Assistant Burleigh County State's Attorney Chris Redmann says he's awaiting the signature of a judge on the complaint against the woman.
Police say the 43 year-old woman is homeless and was living at a Bismarck hotel. They say she grabbed the staffer by the shoulders and tried to punch her last Thursday afternoon in the hallway outside of the senator's office in the federal building.
Court security officers, deputy U-S Marshals and Bismarck Police responded to the call of a disturbance.
