FARGO (KFGO-AM) - A simple idea to serve Easter dinner to some underprivileged families has turned into something much larger for three young siblings from Wheaton, Minn.
The kids started a Facebook page, and so far, they’ve raised hundreds of dollars by selling colorful, homemade bracelets for $1.00 each.
Jennifer Zamilpa is helping coordinate the fundraiser for her kids, Alex, Hanna and Carson. “I wanted to serve Easter dinner at a local food shelf, or homeless shelter”, Zamilpa said. “But my oldest son said ‘What else can we do?’”
The kids began with a modest goal to raise $50.00, but as of this Friday, they raised at least $600.
The money will be turned over to area homeless shelters and social service agencies.
