MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- The Minnesota Twins home opener this afternoon will feature a special "Stand Up to Cancer"theme.
As a show of support for Twins GM Terry Ryan and others impacted by cancer, players from the Twins and A's are wearing SU2C patches.
Team spokesman Kevin Smith says there will also be a tribute during the game.
Smith says this is the first time Major League Baseball has allowed a team to do this in the regular season.
"Take Me Out to the Ballgame" will be performed in the 7th inning by Hope Kids, an organization that provides activities for children battling cancer.
KFGO will carry the game live.
The pre-game begins at 2:40 this afternoon, with the opening pitch set for 3:10.
