FARGO (KFGO-AM) A highly decorated, longtime North Dakota military veteran will be recognized in Fargo this week.
Retired Command Sargent-Major Kevin Remington, who last served as the senior enlisted leader for the North Dakota Army National Guard's 142nd Engineer Command, will be honored when the ceremony room at the Military Entrance Processing Station is named in his honor.
In 2004, Remington was awarded the Silver Star medal for gallantry in action. He extracted the body of a fellow guard member and evacuated another seriously wounded member of the 142nd from the kill zone of an enemy ambush north of Baghdad in July of 2003. Remington also received the Bronze Star for valor.
The ceremony is at 1 p.m. Friday at the Military Processing Station at 225 4th Avenue North.
