BLOOMINGTON, MN (KFGO-AM) -- KFGO News and Sports have won eight awards in the annual Minnesota Associated Press broadcast awards competition.
KFGO News captured awards for spot or breaking news for the Casselton train derailment and fire. The news department also captured awards in the series-special, feature and documentary-investigative categories.
Scott Miller was honored for his play-by-play call of the NDSU-Coastal Carolina football playoff game while Jack Michaels was recognized for the North Dakota State-Notre Dame basketball game. Sports reporter Ryan Gellner was cited by the AP for a sports feature on Bison running back John Crockett.
The awards will be presented this weekend at the Midwest Journalism Conference in Bloomington.
