FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- The fire chief of an eastern North Dakota town who led the response to a fiery train derailment is scheduled to testify before Congress. Casselton Fire Chief Tim McLean has been invited by North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp to speak before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs subcommittee about training programs for first responders. The derailment happened about a mile outside of Casselton on Dec. 30 when a train hauling oil from western North Dakota crashed into a grain car that had fallen onto the track.

There were no injuries. Heitkamp, who is a member of the subcommittee, says McLean will share his on-the-ground experience in responding to emergencies and talk in detail about the aftermath of the derailment and fire. The hearing is scheduled Tuesday afternoon in Washington.
