FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- Union State Bank says it will close its West Acres branch June 30. All employees will be relocated to the banks two other Fargo locations.
Union State Bank has been in the mall since it opened in 1972. Historically a large percentage of the business done at Union State Bank’s West Acres location was from merchants located in the mall. However, many merchants now see a majority of their payments done through credit or debit cards which are run through national accounts instead of cash which was run through Union State Bank.
Union State Bank is satisfied that their two locations feature easy access to major traffic areas and ability to serve customers and the community at a high level. "We are seeing a shift in banking habits to take advantage of state-of-the-art technology, including remote direct deposits, internet banking and mobile banking, so we feel timing on the consolidation is good," says Mary Johnson, President of Union State Bank.
