WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) - The National Park Service is holding a public meeting Friday on the proposed alternative sites for a new visitor center in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
The current center was on unstable soil and was abandoned nearly two years ago, with operations moved to another building. The Park Service last month released an environmental assessment on four potential building sites for a new center.
Public comments will be taken during the meeting from 1-4 p.m. Central time Friday in front of the abandoned building, just inside the park entrance. Three of the four potential building sites are near the abandoned site, and the fourth is about 700 feet away.
The public comment period closes June 19.
