BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Gov. Jack Dalrymple has proclaimed this week as Snowplow Operator Week in North Dakota.
Dalrymple says it's being done to recognize the efforts made by snowplow drivers to keep roads maintained and safe for travel. State Transportation Department Director Grant Levi says the state employs about 355 snowplow drivers. Hundreds more snowplow operators work for cities and counties. Officials say drivers work hard to clear North Dakota's roads but they also serve as the state's ``eyes and ears'' in reporting winter conditions.
